David James has been a member of the National Spiritual Alliance since 2000 and served as its treasurer for 13 years.
He has been a member of the Lake Pleasant Village Association since he moved here in 2005 and served as its treasurer for 11 years.

David was coauthor with artist and medium Louise Shattuck, a third generation Spiritualist, of Spirit and Spa, a word and old photo portrait of the history of Spiritualism in Lake Pleasant, the oldest continuously-existing same site Spiritualist center in the United States and from the late 1870s to the late 1920s, the largest Spiritualist gathering place in the country.

He is a free-lance writer and photographer and is the one and lonely, contract employee of the Lake Pleasant Post Office.
